Woods Dwelling
A tender, acoustic celebration of daily life within the sanctuary that gives the track its name. Through a poetic catalog of the fauna and flora that inhabit the backyard, the song unfolds as a prayer of gratitude and a manifesto for inner peace, reminding us to slow down and witness the sacred wealth residing in the simplest things of existence.
My eyes awaken on the hillside
(Meus olhos acordam na colina)
From laziness to a sweet destiny
(Da preguiça pra doce sina)
I feel the breeze that announces,
(Sinto o sopro que anuncia,)
And so begins the day.
(E assim começa o dia.)
Coffee with milk, bread with butter
(Café com leite, pão com manteiga)
I look at the porch, what a beauty
(Olho pra varanda que beleza)
Capturing everything through the senses,
(Captando tudo pelos sentidos,)
The feast of all the noises.
(A festa de todos os ruídos.)
Thrush, tanager, and great kiskadee,
(Sabiá, sanhaço e bem-te-vi,)
House wren, doves, and hummingbird.
(Cambaxirra, pombas e colibri.)
Parakeets, bananaquit, and guans,
(Maritacas, sebinho e jacús,)
Canaries, toucans, and anis.
(Canários, tucanos e anús.)
Owl, crested oropendola, and the cardinal,
(Coruja, japu e o cardeal,)
They sing of life in this backyard of mine.
(Cantam a vida nesse meu quintal.)
The day steps onto the porch,
(O dia entra na varanda,)
I awaken within this memory.
(Desperto nessa lembrança.)
The energy radiates outward,
(A energia se irradia,)
It is always a joy.
(É sempre uma alegria.)
With the scent that floods over me...
(Com o cheiro que me invade...)
In the present, I already feel nostalgia.
(No presente já sinto saudade.)
Here, peace is a seed.
(Aqui a paz é uma semente.)
A time of sun mixed with rain.
(Tempo de sol com chuva.)
I think of spreading it like a current.
(Penso espalhar como corrente.)
I smell the ripe scent of fruit.
(Sinto cheiro maduro de fruta.)
Surinam cherry, blackberry, and araçá,
(Pitanga, amora e o araçá,)
Avocado, cupuaçu, cajá.
(Abacate, cupuaçu, cajá.)
Guava, jackfruit, and tangerine,
(Goiaba, jaca e a tangerina,)
Tamarind, fig, and the fine mango.
(Tamarino, figo e a manga fina.)
Lemongrass, hibiscus, and acerola cherry,
(Cidreira, hibisco e a acerola,)
Cashew fruit, cacao, and gabiroba.
(Caju, o cacau e gabiroba.)
The day steps onto the porch,
(O dia entra na varanda,)
I awaken within this memory.
(Desperto nessa lembrança.)
The energy radiates outward,
(A energia se irradia,)
It is always a joy.
(É sempre uma alegria.)
With the scent that floods over me...
(Com o cheiro que me invade...)
In the present, I already feel nostalgia.
(No presente já sinto saudade.)
In this bond that life composes,
(Nesse elo que a vida compõe,)
And feeling the air of this backyard,
(E sentindo o ar desse quintal,)
It is the being itself that discovers itself,
(É o próprio ser que se descobre,)
This is the Morada do Bosque.
(Essa é a Morada do Bosque.)
People lose themselves in disdain,
(Pessoas se perdem em desdém,)
By failing to see what they have.
(Por não enxergar aquilo que tem.)
Countries suffer from wars,
(Países sofrem com guerras,)
In eternal mourning and darkness.
(Em eternos lutos e trevas.)
Peace seems like a vain dream...
(A paz parece um sonho em vão...)
But being here... how could it be?
(Mas estando aqui... como não?)
