The Price

An emotionally stirring and deeply human narrative about memory and inner healing. While standing at a bakery counter, a man sees his own child ask for a treat and experiences a flash of lucidez, revisiting a painful "no" from his own childhood that he had carried as a hidden grudge. In a single second of clarity, he reframes his entire family history in a song about maturity, silent forgiveness, and redemption.

Behind the Scenes: "O Preço" (The Price) was born from a deep reflection on how our childhood memories can deceive us, creating flawed interpretations that lead us down paths of loneliness and invisible pain. The inspiration came from realizing that we often interpret our parents' scarcity or strictness as a lack of affection, carrying that wound in our "backpack" through life without realizing the heavy toll it takes on our adult relationships. The poetic spark takes place in the simple, sensory environment of a bakery. The paradox is established when the protagonist, now a father, encounters his own son's longing eyes in front of the pastry glass. In that split second, his mind travels through time, and he realizes that the "no" from the past—which had hurt him so deeply—was not a lack of love, but the ultimate expression of a protective care that a child's mind simply cannot decipher. The song celebrates the beauty of maturity, which allows us to melt the ice of old grudges and transform an old desert into a ground of redemption and peace.
